Stephanos Foundation is a Reformed Christian, Non-Governmental Organisation, operating from Chilangoma, Chileka, in Blantyre. Takes care of orphans and vulnerable children. The initiative for the Foundation started in The Netherlands and was established in Malawi in 1994, to see orphan and vulnerable children and their guardians become self-reliant and spiritually mature, thereby contributing to the spiritual and social-economic development of their communities.. Therefore, The Foundation wishes to recruit for its various departments as follows.

The Position : Project Officer

Reports to : The Programme Manager

Location : Chikwawa

Job Purpose

The incumbent shall ensure the project succeeds by leading and working with stakeholders. S/he shall ensure implementation is guided by the regulations, and appraising the challenges and achievements of the project. S/he shall work with the rural community to develop and implement effective strategies for ensuring active participation of community through Self Help Group Approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading and monitoring the project to its successful completion
  • Working closely with users to ensure the project meets the intended goal
  • Ensuring that all activities are implemented based on donors’ regulations and guidelines
  • Preparing monthly reports and monitoring budgets of the activities
  • Frequently appraise the challenges and results of the programme

Job specification

  • The position is only open to Reformed Christian ladies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Rural & Community Development
  • Three (3) years of work experience within the rural community
  • Valid motorcycle driving license


  • willingness to work in rural communities.
  • Team player – ability to share with and consult others
  • Computer literate
  • Skilled in writing project proposals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
