Organisational Context
Stephanos Foundation is a Reformed Christian Non-Governmental Organisation based in Chilangoma, Chileka, Blantyre. Taking care of orphans and vulnerable children in various programmes, such as an orphanage, daycare centre, nursery and primary school, vocational training centre, and outreach projects. The initiative for the Foundation started in The Netherlands and was established in Malawi in 1994. Stephanos Foundation is registered with CONGOMA and NGORA.
Primary School Teacher
Reporting to : Deputy Head Teacher
Level : Middle Staff Member
Overall purpose
Teaching primary school learners any subjects that may be allocated to the position holder, and enforcing the school rules
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching all assigned areas of the Primary School Curriculum
- Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of Primary-age learner
- Organizing the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment
- Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class
- Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
- Counseling and guiding learners to maintain discipline at the School
- Preparing and marking work to facilitate positive pupil development
- Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupil development
- Providing feedback to parents and guardians on a pupil’s progress at Teachers-Parents meetings
- Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
- Working with other teachers to plan and coordinate work
- Organizing and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at the weekends
Job specifications
- Primary School Teaching Certificate
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- At least 2 years teaching experience, of which 1 year should be in a private school
