‘Community Care For Children’

Stephanos Foundation is a Reformed Christian, Non-Governmental Organisation, operating from Chilangoma, Chileka, in Blantyre. Takes care of orphans and vulnerable children. The initiative for the Foundation started in The Netherlands and was established in Malawi in 1994, to see orphans and vulnerable children and their guardians become self-reliant and spiritually mature, thereby contributing to the spiritual and social-economic development of their communities. Therefore, The Foundation wishes to recruit for one of its various departments as follows.

Reports to : The Deputy Programme Manager 
Location : Chilangoma, Blantyre

Overall purpose

The incumbent shall help in the improvement of the education status of the catchment area population by implementing the various projects at hand.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Establishing and Monitoring Early Child Development Centers and Adult Literacy Education Programmes
  • Cooperating with the schools within the project area
  • Conducting various trainings related to education in consultation with DCDO
  • Reporting progress of ALE to DCDO
  • Establishing and monitoring of Children’s corners
  • Data collection and report compilation
  • Apply child rights approach and involve children in decision making
  • Apply the child protection policy in all child related projects
  • Facilitation of building projects for learning centers and primary schools
  • Active participation in the execution of the designed project proposal
  • Promote Christian identity of the organization
  • To keep him/her self-updated in regard to development issues /policies concerning 
  • To attend spiritual programs at Stephanos e.g. week opening / closing and

Qualification & Skills:

  • Atleast a Diploma in Education, or related field
  • Atleast two years of professional experience working in the development sector
  • Knowledge and experience in Early Childhood Development Education, Primary Education and Adult Literacy Education
  • Knowledgeable and experience in community mobilisation, PRA, Child Rights Approach and Child Protection
  • Experience in working with Faith Based Organizations is an added advantage
  • Clean valid driving licence for 

Personal attributes:

  • Passion for working with children in the rural communities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chichewa
  • Ability to work under pressure in a remote area
  • Accurate ,thorough and timely in carrying out tasks
  • Computer literate
  • Skilled in writing project proposals
  • Should be a team player
